10 year Anniversary of the American Gothic House Center

The American Gothic House Center has been open for 10 years!
Saturday August 12, from 1:00-3:00 pm
In celebration the Center will have a display of the building of the Center up inside the American Gothic House. There will be free pie and refreshments, Beth Howard will also be here with some of her famous pies. There will also be live music and a caricature artist here for your enjoyment.
The State Historical Society of Iowa will be hosting a workshop, Lilies of the Alley miniatures. Grant wood created found-object sculptures in the shape of potted flowers with whatever he found int he alley behind his home in Cedar Rapids. Participants will have the chance to create their own Lilies of the Alley miniatures in the American Gothic House. This will be a come and go program where people can participate any time between 1:00-3:00 pm, supplies may be limited, so arrive early to ensure you have a chance to create your own lily. This workshop is sponsored by the Iowa Arts Council.
