Download a hike “passport” for kids ages 6-18 from either of our websites\, Facebook event\, or stop into the Center and pick one up. Journal 3 things you learned from 3 different 2025 hikes at the American Gothic House plus complete 2 independent activities May- August 2025 to earn an American Gothic House Center lanyard! DESCRIPTION:American Gothic House Center Escape and Unveil the Mystery of the Fourth CASE\nLo and behold\, another mystery doth unfold at the American Gothic House Center! This experience\, much like an escape room\, stands alone\, wherein no prior participation is needed. Unravel the crime through the solving of puzzles\, the deciphering of clues\, and the joining of forces in teams. A prize shall be bestowed upon the victors! To partake\, thou must preregister at MyCountyParks by the 16th day of October\, before the hour of 4:00 PM. The fee is $30 per team\, with a limit of five teams\, each no larger than six members. Each team must include at least one child of ten years or older\, and one adult of eighteen years or more. Refreshments shall be provided. Should the session be filled\, be sure to place thy group upon the waitlist\, for another session may yet be opened should demand warrant it. A guide for beginners\, to aid in thy quest for victory\, is posted upon the website. This event doth precede the Gothic Area Renaissance Faire\, which shall be held on the 25th and 26th days of October upon the hallowed grounds of the Wapello County Fairgrounds within the realm of Eldon. \n** To make the “knight” even more fun- come dressed in a Renaissance-style costume!

DESCRIPTION:Kee Kee Buckley is an author\, filmmaker\, on-camera personality\, keynote speaker\, and rock band manager. She will be at the American Gothic House Center to talk about her new book and sign copies on Saturday\, December 6th\, from 11-2 p.m. as part of Eldon’s Holiday Hop events. Her equally famous husband\, Eric Troyer\, is a keyboardist\, singer\, songwriter\, and is a founding member of ELO Part II. He wrote a song for his wife’s book\, Seeking Shama: Me\, My Dog\, and the Road to Inner Peace\, and will perform it at the Center. Apparently\, Kee Kee lived in the house at one time with her friend who is known as the Pie Lady\, Beth Howard. \nOur annual children’s event will be from 2:00-3:30 p.m. inside the American Gothic House. \n  \n
