A new one will be posted every two weeks\, May 23rd through September 2nd. They are open to the public. Since the Center is managed by the Wapello County Conservation Department\, these hikes are wildlife or conservation-oriented. Download a hike “passport” for kids ages 6-18 from either of our websites\, Facebook event\, or stop into the Center and pick one up. Journal 3 things you learned from 3 different 2025 hikes at the American Gothic House plus complete 2 independent activities May- August 2025 to earn an American Gothic House Center lanyard! All details and requirements for this activity are on the passport.\nAlso ask to check out an educational backpack from the Center’s gift shop May 23rd through September 2nd to help with the journey! Topics are bugs\, birds\, and plants.

DESCRIPTION:American Gothic House Center Youth Activities – Charlotte’s Web\nRegistration is NOT necessary. This is a come-and-go-as-you-please activity. \nThese FREE activities will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis while supplies last. Each event’s theme and activities will correspond with the subject of the simultaneous self-guided hike. All children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older the entire time. Activities will begin and end at the American Gothic House Center (look for signs) and are geared toward elementary aged children in a come-and-go-as-you-please fashion. No preregistration necessary. Check Facebook for any cancellations.
