Recycling
Recycling Guidelines – City of Eldon
Each habitable structure in the City of Eldon has been provided with an official city-issued recycling bin. In the event a replacement is needed, a new bin may be purchased from the city for $12. Please note that only official city recycling bins will be collected. Recycling placed in any other container will not be picked up.
Recycling bins are considered part of the property and must remain on-site. If a resident vacates the property and removes the bin, the cost of the bin will be deducted from their deposit.
Recycling collection occurs on the same day as your regular garbage pickup.
To ensure proper collection:
- Place only clean, accepted recyclable materials in the bin.
- Rinse all plastic bottles and jugs, aluminum, and metal cans before placing them in the bin.
- Place all accepted recyclables together—sorting is not required.
Accepted items include:
- Any plastic container that has a neck
- Newspapers (also including inserts)
- Mixed paper – Junk mail, envelopes, sticky notes, coloring books, phone books, cereal boxes, tissue boxes, magazines, etc.
- Cardboard – must be broken down
- Tin and aluminum cans
- Shredded paper – needs to be contained in a paper product such as a cereal or cardboard box, or a paper sack
- Glass jars and bottles of all colors
